A Big, Beautiful Malamute is Billings’ Featured Adoptable Pet

Meet Foursquare, the mighty Malamute mix.

Izzy Zalenski, Community Engagement Coordinator at YVAS, said Foursquare recently arrived at the shelter as a stray, wearing a nice halter, but with no identifying details. Sadly, nobody came to claim her. Per the shelter's hold policy, she is now ready for a new forever home, and we're certain this girl won't last long.

Foursquare is a three-year-old Malamute mix (who, in our opinion, might be a purebred?). She is a large, yet gentle dog, weighing in at 95 pounds. Foursquare is beautiful, with classic Malamute markings.

A perfect Montana dog?

This gentle giant loves, loves, loves car rides, said Zalenski. She does well on a leash and appears friendly to other dogs. Foursquare is quite smart, and YVAS staffers note that she likes to "sing" as Malamutes are known to do. We can imagine this dog will be a perfect companion for your Montana adventures.

Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter is running an adoption special. Now through Friday, January 9th, you can adopt any adult dog for just $10, including our featured pet this week, Foursquare.

YVAS is moving.

Here's some great news. The shelter has been operating from a temporary location at 6400 S. Frontage Road since September of last year. They announced this week that they've secured a new, semi-permanent location and will be moving to 5056 Jellison Road this weekend.

Jellison is the road that leads to the dump, just off South Billings Blvd/Blue Creek Road.

If you'd like to help them move, volunteers are needed from 9 AM to Noon on Saturday, January 10th, at 6400 S. Frontage Road.
