Yellowstone County Offices Are Moving: What You Need to Know Before You Go

If you do business with Yellowstone County, there’s an important update you’ll want to know. County officials say they are in the process of moving multiple departments into the Ostlund Building, located at 2825 3rd Avenue North in Billings, and they’re asking the public for patience as the transition continues.

Sixth Floor Offices Now Open and Fully Operational

Several county departments are already fully operational inside the Ostlund Building. On the sixth floor, you’ll now find Public Works, Disaster and Emergency Services, Geographic Information Systems, and Information Technology. These offices are open and conducting business as usual in their new location.

Fourth Floor: Clerk and Recorder and County Commissioners

The fourth floor is home to some of the county’s most frequently visited offices. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office and the County Commissioners are both now located there. If you’re attending a meeting or handling official paperwork, this is where you’ll want to go.

Third Floor: County Attorney, Finance, and Auditor Offices

More county operations are housed on the third floor, including the County Attorney Civil Office, the County Commissioner Boardroom and discussion room, Finance, and the Auditor’s Office. Anyone with business tied to these departments should plan for the new location moving forward.

More Office Moves Are Scheduled in Late January and Early February

The relocation is not finished yet. Yellowstone County states that additional floors will open once construction and setup are complete. Human Resources and Court Services, located on the second floor, are scheduled to begin moving on January 26. The first floor, which includes the Superintendent of Schools, Motor Vehicle, and Treasurer’s Office, is expected to begin moving on February 2.

What County Officials Want Visitors to Know During the Transition

County officials say they appreciate the public’s patience during the move and encourage residents to double-check office locations before heading in. As departments continue to shift, visitors may notice temporary changes; however, the long-term goal is to bring services together in a more centralized space.
